Day 17: Look and Linger

The speed at which our world works today is amazing and it just keeps getting faster and faster and faster.  Lingering, sauntering, strolling are activities you may only partake in during a vacation.  I say "may" because these days allowing yourself to actually relax on vacation is often a luxury, in itself.  How sad is that?  Really?  How many times do we have to be reminded that life is short?  This isn't something people say to annoy you.  It's not an ideal threat.  It's fact.  Any yet we continue to deny ourselves the opportunity to appreciate the beauty which surrounds us.

Our days are filled with incredible sights and sounds.  Unfortunately we are too distracted, in too big a hurry or too preoccupied with the conference call in our ear, to truly appreciate any of it.

Our mid-week challenge can be as rewarding as it it simple.

Find a bit of beauty today and take a moment to appreciate it. Listen to the words of a song. Take the longer, yet more scenic route home. Check out the details of an old building. Be a tourist, if only for a few moments of your chaotic day.

You may be surprised by how lovely the world around you truly is.
